Biography
Alec Joseph Becker is a British Columbian artist, born and educated in Vancouver and trained at the Vancouver School of Art (now known as the Emily Carr School of Art).

Alec attended the Vancouver School of Art between 1950 and 1953, where he studied with and under some of the best artists in Canada, notably Jack Shadbolt, Don Jarvis, Gordon Smith, Fred Amess, Peter Aspell and well known war artist Orville Fisher.

In Mexico, Alec studied under Jose Gutierez. In 1954, he painted a mural in Mexico City under his direction.

At that time, commissions for murals were not readily available in Vancouver. Alec decided to pursue a career in law until 1993, when he resumed full-time painting.

He is now represented at the Vancouver Art Gallery art rental and sales, the Richmond Art Gallery art rental and sales, the Gallery at Ceperley House Visual Arts Burnaby art rental and sales and the Art Council North Vancouver art rental and sales where his works are being rented and sold.

Although he has worked in a variety of subject matters, he has a particular interest in capturing the various seasons and locations around Vancouver and other areas of British Columbia.
